Book Review: The Time Traveler's Wife

As many of you know, one of my New Year's resolutions involves reading one book a month and as part of that process, I plan to do a quick book review at the beginning of each month to share my literary journey.

This month, I read "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. The story is about a time traveler named Henry DeTamble and the love story, as well as the trials and tribulations of his circumstance, that unfold as he make's his way through time. Niffenegger does a magnificent job of vividly describing Henry's story through clear imagery and simple text. The most challenging part of the read was keeping all of my dates straight, as Henry does skip around in time frequently. However, seamless transitions and good writing eliminate perceptions of what could be viewed as a difficult read.

Overall, the story was beautifully written and I enjoyed picking up the book each night to read. I commend the author for not only putting together such a great novel on her first try, but also by creating a peice of art that has now made it into the big screen. Typically, I steer away from watching movies of books that I've read, but I've decided to go ahead and move forward with putting this pick into my Neflix queue.

I would definitley recommend this book to seasoned and fair weathered readers alike :).

I think it is great that you are trying to read more this year. I love reading, it really relaxes me! This is actually the book that got me back into reading again. It is a wonderful story. I need to rent the movie, glad to hear it is out on DVD finally.
