The Blankie

Hey everyone! Well, it happened, we got several inches of snow last night. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring - anybody else with me on this? I'm ready for long days, evenings at the park with the family, catching fireflies, grilling out...etc... Ugh...I hope that wherever you all are, that the weather is sunny bright and lovely (just don't rub it in...mmmm-k?)

Today, I'm sharing a fun layout that I made last weekend celebrating this wonderfully knit blanket that was mine when I was a baby. Now, PJ uses it and it just makes me so happy that stuff like that lasts so long. And it's also really got me thinking about venturing out and learning new crafty things. As much as I love to scrapbook, the creative person inside of me is seeking for new projects. Soooo, I've decided that I'm going to learn how to knit. I love the idea of being able to make items that are durable, can be washed and are completely homemade... I'm even thinking that if I can get good enough at it that I might try to sell some goods on Etsy - we'll see. For now, I'm just going to be in awe of the talents of others and hope that their talents somehow wear off on me.

Here's a closer look at today's layout...

Credits
Patterned Paper: BasicGrey - Basics, Sassafrass Lass - Indie Girl
Titlework: Sassafrass Lass
Embellishments: Sassafrass Lass
Ink: American Crafts, Autumn Leaves
Thread: Miscellaneous
Tool: Sewing Machine

So do any of you out there know how to knit and if so, do you have any suggestions on the best places to learn...I've looked up a few tutorials online and wondering if the best place to learn would be using a book? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much and have a great day!

Your layout is absolutely adorable, but how could it not be with those precious photos! My grandmother taught me how to knit years ago. When I wanted to take it up again, I took a beginners class at Joann's to help me remember the basics. For me, the best way to learn is have somebody show me and let me try it - good luck, I love my little knitting projects!

Terrific LO. You've just been putting them out so quickly this year!! Great job.. I'm getting behind on my scrapbooking for this year already!! Darn school, but I have a retreat in a couple of weekends so I should be caught back up and ahead of the game by the end of that weekend! yay!

You have the best baby pics...and this is another fantastic layout.

I am ready for spring, too. Sad, considering it's only January, eh?

Beautiful layout ... but what really caught my eye was the blankie. I have one EXACTLY like it except that it is pink/white/blue! My mom made when pregnant with me and now my son uses it. :)

I have knitted a few things including a baby blanket when I was pregnant. My mom taught me how when I was younger. I forgot after several years of not knitting. Then when to M's and bought "I Taught Myself Knitting" kit by Boye. That helped me to relearn. My mom has made hats, booties, sweaters - I don't have the skill or patience! Ha! Mine are all rectangles (blankets & scarves). :)

Love your layout Casey! I have several knitted afghans and blankets from my grandmother before she passed away and will treasure them forever! She was a prize winning knitter and wished I would have taken the time to learn from her. Good luck learning to knit!
